Bay Vineyard is led by Sam and Jen Harvey. When they left Christchurch to plant this church they were joined by some amazing faith-filled people that were part of their previous community - the Buxton family, the Domigan family and Keegan! Since arriving in Napier, Sam and Jen have been blown away by the wonderful team that has formed and the stories they have of God leading them to this place.
Sam and Jen are originally from Wellington and met when Jen was studying at Bible College and Sam was co-pastoring a church there. They worked together at the church, fell in love and after getting married moved to Christchurch where they have spent the last eight years pastoring a wonderful church and chasing their small children! They now have three busy, beautiful boys – Eli, Judah and Asher.
Sam has extensive leadership experience. He graduated from Bible College of New Zealand (now Laidlaw) with a Bachelor of Ministries. He’s been in full-time ministry since 2002. In Christchurch he was part of the senior leadership team at Grace Vineyard Church, where he led the worship ministry and pastored the Beach Campus.
Amidst the busyness of raising three boys, Jen has spent the last few years mentoring and helping run various church ministries. After visiting Nepal and losing her heart to the kids over there, Jen volunteered for a mission organisation called Compassion Nepal and for the past few years has taught dance fitness classes with the profits going to support them.
At the end of 2016 Jen and Sam felt God stirring in their hearts, challenging them to begin a new adventure and trust Him more deeply. Through a process of much prayer and discernment, they felt led to take a step of faith and move to the Hawke’s Bay to start a new Vineyard Church in Napier. They’re doing this with the full blessing of Grace Vineyard in Christchurch.
Sam and Jen are passionate about the Church! They believe that the church is called to continue the ministry of Jesus, blessing what God is doing all around us. They believe that the Church is a place where faith, hope and love flourish and where redemption and restoration can be found.
They’re loving life in the Bay and are loving what God is doing in the Bay!
